Australian Innovation: Firesight Pty Ltd. Technology Solves Global Fire Problem.

MELBOURNE, Australia -- Firesight Pty Ltd, a Melbourne based start up company emerged today after two years of development to announce several technological advancements that will reduce the impact of Bushfires on vital global energy and telecommunications infrastructure.

Firesighter it is a revolutionary new flame and ember barrier system designed for use on utility poles in out urban, rural and mountainous terrain. "It is the first fully automated flame and ember barrier system of its kind to reach any market, and it will reduce service interruptions and the cost needed to restore the fire damaged infrastructure by as much as 80%," said James Eades company founder and inventor of the technology.

Firesighter utilizes a patent pending solar powered ion actuated drive mechanism developed by the company. It monitors heat and air conditions and when fire conditions are severe it acts deploying its protective flame proof barrier called Pyrophyte. Pyrophyte Silica96 another new product developed by the company for the aerospace industry is a material made of a rare high grade pure silica glass fiber, and able to withstand temperatures up to 1725 degrees C (3137 degrees F) making the structures flame proof.

Eades, an American who immigrated to Australia two years ago on a business visa, said Firesight was developed in response to the Canberra ACT fires which destroyed vast amounts of the territories' infrastructure and left twenty thousand residents without power, gas and telephone service for weeks on end.

Eades said, "It was something that then federal opposition leader Simon Crean said in a January 2003 interview with a journalist relating to the infrastructure carnage in Canberra that hit a nerve and set the companies focus on developing risk mitigation solutions for infrastructure projects."

This is not a problem unique to Australia said Eades a native Californian; it's a global issue and a problem that cost billions of dollars every year. Without power, gas, water, sewerage and communications all cease, these are our community's most vital and essential services and until now there just haven't been any solutions.

Firesight is also releasing several large scale systems that can be monitored and activated remotely for mobile telephone towers and chemical storage facilities.

Firesighter is awaiting CSIRO certification and will be available to public and privately held energy companies on a term lease basis. The company also acknowledges that in a recent survey conducted by Quantum Market Research consumers support nominal rate increase for its adaptation.
