Australian IBM SNA engineering firm Metaplex enters development partnership with Cisco Systems.

Ltd., of Sydney, Australia, have formed a multi-year partnership to develop software that enhances the ability of Cisco's router and switch platforms to provide connectivity solutions for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  networking.

Metaplex, a five-year-old firm specializing in IBM SNA (Systems Network Architecture) IBM's mainframe network standards introduced in 1974. Metaplex and Cisco have worked together since December 1993 on a number of projects including gateway, bisync tunneling, and network management service point support. Metaplex has also worked under contract to IBM and Novell.

Metaplex Pty. Ltd. was formed in Sydney in late 1990. The company offers network engineering services specializing in the IBM SNA data communications market. In its five years, Metaplex has carried out contract projects for organizations including Cisco Systems, IBM and Novell.

Cisco Systems Inc. is the leading global supplier of enterprise networks, including routers, LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and ATM switches, dial-up access servers and network management software.
