The bushfire danger in much of Australia's Queensland state on Monday remained high to very high, according to officials, as some 14 blazes continued to burn across the state.

While the immediate threat to residential areas had passed, there were isolated pockets of unburnt land and the fire was still burning, according to authorities.

With a very high fire danger persisting across much of Queensland, fire bans were likely to be extended.

The Bureau of Meteorology meteorology, branch of science that deals with the atmosphere of a planet, particularly that of the earth, the most important application of which is the analysis and prediction of weather.  said Queensland would have generally fine weather, with southeast winds along the coast.
