Australia Banking Group Adopts Docucorp Software for UK Client Communications.

Docucorp(R) International (Nasdaq:DOCC), a leading enterprise information software provider, has been selected by Australia's largest banking group to provide document creation and distribution software to its new UK financial planning and investment service.

In November last year, the National Australia Bank's European Wealth Management division launched a new financial planning service to customers of the Clydesdale, Northern and Yorkshire banks, which are part of the National group of companies.

The National chose Docucorp's Transall and Documaker software to replace a technically involved and labour-intensive system, which was unable to cope with its need for detailed, personalised client communication.

Docucorp's Transall replaces manual programming with automatic data translation and manipulation tools, while Documaker enables the rapid generation of detailed, customized documents according to pre-defined rules.

The Docucorp software is intended to ensure compliance with financial services regulations, reduce operating costs and speed up customer

queries with a new consolidated reporting format and online document retrieval process.

In the past, the National's output to some clients was in excess of 20 regulatory mailings a year. This will be reduced to between three and five mailings this year, offering substantial savings in postage, stationary and third party costs. The National mailed 162,000 clients in January, with 180,000 scheduled for July 2002.

The Docucorp solution replaces a mainframe-based system, involving six-monthly extracts from the National's Investment Administration System via a Visual Basic interface to manipulate and batch the extracted records. Files were then sent by FTP to the mainframe system, using COBOL programs to sort and batch the information into client consolidated order. Finally MTEXT software was used to format and prepare the Advanced Function Printing (AFP) print files for mainframe printing.

With the Docucorp system, data is stored in SQL Server and Oracle databases on NT Servers. Data is pulled from the databases on a consolidated client basis into Transall. Several Transall applications then re-arrange, manipulate, re-order and process data into a clean extract format. This is then passed to Documaker. Documaker processes the data onto the developed forms (pre-developed reports) and produces a print file.

Response times to client enquiries have improved because correspondence created from multiple sources is now stored as a 'snapshot' PDF file. The PDFs are available online enabling WME customer service staff to answer client queries immediately.

The launch of the new financial planning service was implemented in two stages, in January 2002 with Documaker, and in July 2002 with Transall.
