Austin Chapter presents its first scholarship. (Chapter News).


TEI's Austin Chapter recently presented its first scholarship to a deserving recipient of Southwest Texas University. On November 14, a $1,000 was presented to Felichia Johnson, a senior accounting major, who is going into the integrated program and will receive her Masters of Accountancy in May 2004. She is the President of the Accounting

Club, and member of Beta Alpha Psi BAΨ (Beta Alpha Psi) is an honorary organization for accounting, finance and information systems students and professionals. Its primary objective is to encourage and recognize academic and professional excellence in the financial information field.  Honor fraternity and Tau Alpha Chi Tax Fraternity. She was on the SWT SWT - Standard Widget Toolkit  Dean's List in Spring 2001 and recognized on the National Dean's List 2001-2002. She was active with the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) at SWT last year and a San Marcos High School San Marcos High School may refer to:
  • San Marcos High School — San Marcos, California
  • San Marcos High School — Santa Barbara, California
  • San Marcos High School — San Marcos, Texas
 Mentor for 2002-2003. She received the Andersen scholarship for Fall 2002. In her essay, she says that "Tax often seems like completing a puzzle, a challenging puzzle that provides a personal reward once it is complete."

The Austin Chapter was chartered in September 2000 and one of the primary fiscal goals was to be able to fund scholarships for local area university students. The chapter developed its scholarship guidelines based on TEI 1. (communications) TEI - Terminal Endpoint Identifier.
2. (text, project) TEI - Text Encoding Initiative.
 National criteria, adopted them on May 30, 2002, and had them formally adopted by TEI National on June 12, 2002. During the 2002-2003 fiscal year, the chapter was able to fund 2 scholarships for $1,000 each and plans to rotate the recipient schools annually. St. Edward's University

History
The school was founded by the Rev. Edward Sorin, CSC , Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross, who also founded the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
