Auroras earns Aintree return with easy win; CARLISLE.

Colin Russell was a fictional character in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. He was played by Michael Cashman.

AURORAS ENCORE, who won the Listed John Smith's Handicap Hurdle at 50-1 at last year's Grand National meeting, will head back to Aintree next week after gaining his second win over fences in the novice chase.

"He has needed experience, but he jumped well there," said the trainer's husband, Harvey, who added: "He'll go to Aintree, but I'm not sure which race. He might even go back over hurdles."

It was a tremendous day for Collier as he landed his first treble at odds of almost 33-1, his other two winners being Garleton in the 3m1/2f handicap chase and Cash Man in the 2m5f beginners' chase.

Garleton, who is also trained by Smith, was making it two wins from two runs since joining her, staying on well to score by four lengths from Indy Mood.

Cash Man, who scored by three lengths after travelling well in the 2m5f beginners' chase, was a welcome winner for Evelyn Slack, who had gone 88 days since her previous success.

She said: "That gets me off the cold list. The horses haven't been running badly, we've had plenty of seconds and thirds."

In contrast, Smith's horses have been in tremendous form and she made it three wins for the day when the 11-year-old Oso Magic beat stablemate Noun 1. stablemate - a horse stabled with another or one of several horses owned by the same person

The 2m5f handicap chase went to Open De L'Isle, who came away from the second-last to beat Manadam by eight lengths.

After a couple of below-par runs, Nelliedonethat bounced back to form to take the 3m2f handicap chase, Peter Buchanan driving him out to beat Benbeoch and Getinby but only just by a neck and a length and three quarters.

"I thought he'd stay this trip, and we'd given him a bit of a break," said Lucinda Russell, who trains the nine-year-old for the Kelso Members Lowflyers Club.
