Aurora Platinum Corp.: Diamond Drilling Program To Commence at the Midrim Nickel-Copper-PGM Property, Quebec.Business Editors VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2000 Aurora Platinum Corp. (CDNX CDNX See Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX). :ARP.V) announced today that a first phase 14-hole diamond drilling program is to commence at the Midrim Property in the second week of September. The Midrim Property is located 25 kilometres east of the northern end of Lake Timiskaming and the Ontario-Quebec border and is comprised of 36 claims totaling 1,440 hectares of which 15 are under option by Aurora (See Press Release June 15, 2000) with the remainder owned 100% by Aurora. The planned drilling program will test the Main Midrim, Midrim West and Lac Croche nickel - copper - PGM PGM Program PGM Pragmatic General Multicast PGM Phosphoglucomutase PgM Program Manager PGM Platinum Group Metal PGM Pagemaker (software) PGM Portable Gray Map PGM Precision Guided Munition sulphide bearing zones. [fel(dspar) + s(ilica) + -ic. volcanics all within an east -west structural corridor. Outcrop in the Midrim area is poor and the limits of mineralization are unknown. Based on old drilling, and recent stripping the Main Midrim, Midrim West and Lac Croche zones have a combined strike length of more than 450 metres. All the mineralized min·er·al·ize v. min·er·al·ized, min·er·al·iz·ing, min·er·al·iz·es v.tr. 1. To convert to a mineral substance; petrify. 2. To transform a metal into a mineral by oxidation. 3. zones are open along strike. Mineralization has been displaced by north south faults and recent stripping of overburden by the Company uncovered several new zones of mineralization. Limited grab sampling within these new zones gave values ranging from 0.14% - 6.28% Ni, 0.14% - 4.56% Cu, 0.17 g/t-2.8 g/t palladium and 0.10 g/t-0.78 g/t platinum. An extensive trenching and sampling program has been completed in this zone and results are pending. Previous drilling by the Midrim Mining Company in the 1960's intersected high grade nickel - copper mineralization which was only selectively analyzed for platinum group metals (PGMs). Drill intersections as reported in the assessment files of the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources included 15 metres of 1.49% Ni, 2.09% Cu, 1.68 g/t Pd, 0.72 g/t Pt and 21.64 metres of 1.5% Ni, 1.78% Cu (not analyzed for platinum-palladium). Copper Nickel - PGM mineralization at Midrim consists of disseminated to massive sulphides hosted mainly in fine to medium grained gabbros. The main sulphides include chalcopyrite, millerite mil·ler·ite n. A nickel sulfide mineral, NiS, usually occurring in long hairlike crystals and sometimes used as a nickel ore. [After William Hallowes Miller (1801-1880), British mineralogist. , pyrrhotite, pentlandite pentlandite (pĕnt`ləndīt), yellowish-bronze, opaque mineral, a sulfide of iron and nickel, (Fe,Ni)9S8. It is found in masses nearly always associated with the iron sulfide pyrrhotite. and pyrite. Samples are prepared and analyzed by XRAL Laboratories Ltd in Rouyn - Noranda, Quebec. Copper and nickel are analyzed by atomic absorption. Platinum, palladium and gold are analyzed using conventional fire assay. The Company has instituted a quality control program for the upcoming drilling program. Copies of maps are available from the Company. Aurora Platinum Corporation is actively exploring specifically for nickel - copper - PGM deposits in Ontario and Quebec. The Company is exploring with Falconbridge Limited and on several 100% owned properties in the Sudbury District. Another 100% owned property is located in the Landsdowne House ultramafic complex where several Cu - Ni - PGM occurrences have been delineated.
