Aurora Platinum: More Copper-Nickel-PGM's at Sudbury, Gold in the AEM Project; Aurora Commences Fall Drilling Programs; Ontario and Quebec Projects.Business Editors VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2002 Aurora Platinum Corp. (TSX TSX Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE before April, 2002) TSX Transfer from Stack Pointer to Index TSX True Space Extension Venture:ARP) announced today that the Company's fall drilling programs have commenced on its Ontario and Quebec projects. More than 30,000 metres of diamond drilling Diamond Drilling is a highly specialized industry used for mineral exploration around the world. Most commonly using wireline and core bits with diamond encrusted matrix. To drill holes to max depths of twelve thousand feet, for the recovery of core used in verifying mineral has been approved for these projects and six drills will be operational within the next 45 days. Two additional drills will be mobilized in November, and drilling is expected to continue throughout the winter months. The Company has successfully raised more than $8 million in working capital which will be used to advance priority projects. Sudbury Area Projects The Company's Sudbury area projects include: the Foy and Footwall foot·wall n. Geology 1. The mass of rock underlying a mineral deposit in a mine. 2. Drilling has commenced on the G-13 Target west of the Falconbridge Mine and is expected to commence shortly on targets east of the Falconbridge East Mine. A complete review of the Falconbridge and Falconbridge East mine mineralization is expected to be completed by month end and will be used to target additional drilling. On the Foy Project (Falconbridge option/joint venture) a drilling program to define the Wisner Zone mineralization discovered by Aurora is being planned and work has commenced on the Crazy Creek copper-PGM zone (see news release, July 10, 2002). Drilling will continue on the Nickel Lake discovery (Inco option/joint venture) and under Nickel Lake itself (Falconbridge option/joint venture). Hole Ni-03-02, drilled under Nickel Lake and onto the Inco option/joint venture property (previously reported in news release dated May 15, 2002), cut a wide zone of typical Offset-type massive to semi-massive sulphides from 498.90 metres to 545.13 metres (46.23 metres/138.69 feet) that assayed 0.61% copper, 0.76% nickel, 0.04% cobalt and 0.22 grams/t total PGM PGM Program PGM Pragmatic General Multicast PGM Phosphoglucomutase PgM Program Manager PGM Platinum Group Metal PGM Pagemaker (software) PGM Portable Gray Map PGM Precision Guided Munition . This hole was extended and intersected a second mineralized zone from 581.22 metres to 596.61 metres (15.39 metres/46.11 feet) that assayed 0.76% copper, 0.83 nickel, 0.02% cobalt and 1.15 grams/t PGM. A 4.05 metre (12.15 feet) section within this zone assayed 1.28% copper, 1.44% nickel, 0.03% cobalt and 2.10 grams/t PGM. A vertical hole put down approximately 75 metres (225 feet) to the northeast of Ni-03-02 has just been completed and massive to semi-massive sulphides were intersected between 434.80 metres and 447.10 metres (12.30 metres/ 36.90 feet). Copper-rich stringer mineralization was also intersected deeper in the hole. Assays are pending. The above mineralization appears to be associated with an inclusion-filled constriction constriction /con·stric·tion/ (kon-strik´shun) 1. a narrowing or compression of a part; a stricture.constric´tive 2. a diminution in range of thinking or feeling, associated with diminished spontaneity. within the Foy Offset, located immediately east of Nickel Lake and just west of Inco's WD150 deposit. The current drill program is targeted to extend this mineralization both to the east and west and down dip. A number of new drill targets on the Foy Offset west of Nickel Lake and within the Inco option/joint venture will also be drilled during the current program. Limited drilling in this area by Inco Limited in the past intersected a number of wide zones of anomalous metal values that warrant follow-up. Inco hole 5642-0 cut a 21.55 metre (64.65 feet) zone between 90.07 metres and 111.62 metres that assayed 0.75% copper and 0.53% nickel. Hole 5645-0 cut 8.87 metres (26.61 feet) of 0.76% copper and 1.10% nickel and Hole 95461-0 cut a 26.76 metre (80.28 feet) section that assayed 0.69% copper and 0.89% nickel. A number of good airborne geophysical targets established on Aurora's 100% ground south of the Foy Offset will also be drilled in the current program. On other Ontario Projects Aurora has been actively exploring the AEM AEM Applied and Environmental Microbiology (journal) AEM Association of Equipment Manufacturers AEM Academic Emergency Medicine (journal) AEM Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited AEM Advanced Engine Management project (Inco option/joint venture) and has acquired a number of new properties as a consequence of this work. Additional field work was completed on the Company's 100% owned Lansdowne PGM property in preparation for a second phase drilling program this fall. The 14,368 hectare property hosts PGM reef-type mineralization in a 14 kilometre long layered ultramafic-mafic complex. Associated nickel-copper-PGM mineralization will also be investigated. The Lansdowne Complex is part of a series of layered complexes lying along a westerly Westerly, town (1990 pop. 21,605), Washington co., extreme SW R.I., between the Pawcatuck River and Block Island Sound; inc. 1669. Two additional layered bodies have been discovered and ground in the area has been acquired. Copper-nickel mineralization has been found associated with both of these bodies. During the above exploration, significant gold mineralization was discovered associated with a prominent regional shear structure that has been traced for at least 150 kilometres. Typical Archean vein-type gold mineralization was discovered at a number of locations along the shear, including on the Lansdowne property. Rock chip/grab samples from poorly exposed outcrop of the main shear zone, where it is traced through the southern part of the Lansdowne Property, returned values from 0.11 to 9 grams/t gold in banded vein mineralization. A second parallel mineralized shear zone 300 metres to the north returned a number of anomalous gold values, with the best assayed value from a rock chip sample being 23.78 grams/t gold. Further to the west along the main shear zone and outside of the Lansdowne property, rock chip/grab samples from mineralized quartz veins returned values of 0.34, 1.62 and 154.15 grams/t gold. A duplicate sample of the high grade gold sample (154.15 grams/t - 4.5 oz/t) assayed 107.55 grams/t gold (3.14 oz/t). These veins also assayed between 3.72 and 4.88% zinc. This prospect has also been acquired by the Company. Quebec Projects Drilling has been initiated on the Midrim, Belleterre, Angliers and Geoffroy properties. One drill is presently dedicated to defining mineralization at Midrim and Alotta, while a second drill will focus on the Geoffroy target. A third drill will be mobilized to test 15 coincident airborne geophysical/geochemical targets (on all properties). A number of previously drilled holes were deepened to test this hypothesis with positive results. This first deep hole at Midrim (more than 200 metres) was put down under the No 6 Zone and cut a weak zone of disseminated nickel-copper sulphides from 411.00 metres to 426 metres (15 metres/45 feet). At 490.02 metres, massive sulphides were intersected for 0.51 metres (1.5 feet) before being cut-off cut-off Anesthesiology The point at which elongation of the carbon chain of the 1-alkanol family of anesthetics results in a precipitous drop in the anesthetic potential of these agents–eg, at > 12 carbons in length, there is little anesthetic activity, by a porphyry Porphyry, Greek scholar Porphyry (pôr`fĭrē), c.232–c.304, Greek scholar and Neoplatonic philosopher. A deep electromagnetic conductor was discovered north of the Lac Croche Zone and has been identified as the Geoffroy Zone. A gravity survey conducted over the Zone confirmed a significant anomaly for approximately 4.5 kilometres of strike length and up to 1 kilometre in width. The area is also defined by a strong airborne magnetic anomaly Magnetic Anomaly may refer to:
