Advanced Breast Center in Cayey Installs Island's First Aurora Breast MRI System

Puerto Rico -- Aurora Imaging Technology Inc., today announced that the Aurora([R]) 1.5Tesla Dedicated Breast MRI System has been installed and is now available to the women of Puerto Rico through the Advanced Breast Center in the city of Cayey. The most recent American Cancer Society guidelines recommend breast MRI for women at high risk of breast cancer, and now women in Puerto Rico have access to the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared dedicated breast MRI system specifically designed for breast imaging.

This is especially significant for women ages 25 to 50, who make up 50 percent of Puerto Rico's breast cancer patients and suffer from the highest mortality rate as reported by the Puerto Rico Department of Health."

Unlike traditional whole-body MRI systems, the Aurora Breast MRI's customized table design provides ultimate comfort for women, as well as full coverage of both breasts, the chest wall and axillae in a single bilateral scan, without any compromise in image contrast or resolution.
