Aurora's Century Computer Marketing Division expands depot repair services.


IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 1995--Century Computer Marketing, a division of Aurora Electronics Inc. (ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms. ), Monday announced that it has expanded its repair-services capabilities.

Century, which was acquired earlier this year by Aurora, is a leading supplier of PC-related parts, products and services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and service organizations worldwide.

The integration of Aurora's existing repair capabilities into the Century organization has resulted in the company's ability to offer component-level repairs for an even broader range of microcomputers and peripherals.

Products repaired include: system logic boards; flat panel displays; hard, floppy and tape drives; CD-ROM drives; laser printers; controllers and power supplies. Repair services for VGA (Video Graphics Array) The display standard for the PC. All PC display adapters support VGA, and Windows machines boot up in "VGA mode" before switching to higher resolutions. , XVGA XVGA - eXtended Video Graphics Array , multisynch, EGA (Enhanced Graphics Adapter) An early IBM video display standard that provided medium-resolution text and graphics. It required a digital RGB Enhanced Color Display or equivalent monitor and was superseded by VGA.

As a part of the integration, Century acquired an additional 48,500 square feet of space, including 3,500 square feet of Class 100 clean rooms. The company's number of bench technicians now totals 125. Repair facilities are located in Sacramento, Calif., Memphis, Tenn., and Houston. The company's Sacramento facility is expected to receive ISO (1) See ISO speed.

Complementing Aurora/Century's repair operation is a comprehensive advance exchange, or "cross-ship" program. This program enables Aurora/Century to ship qualified customers a replacement part prior to receiving the part requiring repair.

Stock for the advance exchange program is located in Memphis, enabling Aurora/Century to provide spare-parts distribution services as late as 1 a.m. EST EST electroshock therapy.
