Aurora, Colo., Borders Store Hosts Grand Opening Celebration April 5 - 7.

AURORA, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2002

Borders is celebrating the grand opening of its 28,000-square-foot store in Aurora - located on the northeast corner of Parker Road and Arapahoe Road - from Friday, April 5, through Sunday, April 7. Throughout the weekend, special events are planned including Universal Music's A Universe of Music, Movies and More, a Scholastic Kids Day and DK Publishing's Keep It Simple Sunday.

 on Friday, April 5, when Universal Music presents A Universe of Music, Movies and More, a day filled with musical performances and trivia challenges. The Grand Prize Giveaway will include a DVD player A stand-alone device that plays DVDs. It contains a DVD drive and the electronics to decode the digital video. The device may play only manufactured DVDs, or it may be able to play DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs. DVD players are cabled to a TV or home theater system for display.  and a Universe of DVDs starter set. At 7 p.m., singer-songwriter Matthew Moon will perform songs from his upcoming CD, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed "More Than I Can Give." Then, at 8 p.m., Nina Storey will sing songs from her latest CD; Storey's sultry vocals have been compared to those of Janis Joplin Noun 1. Borders will continue the fun Saturday, April 6, with a Scholastic Kids Day. Children 12 and under will receive a free Clifford the Big Red Dog book, while supplies last, and enter-to-win prizes will be given away throughout the day. Starting at 10 a.m., Borders will host an hour of Captain Underpants Extra Crunchy Fun `n' Games. Then, at 11 a.m., Clifford the Big Red Dog will come to meet and greet kids and to collect canned goods for the Denver Rescue Mission. Witness the astounding a·stound

 magic of Dan Cameron's Abra-Kadoodle Magic Show at 1 p.m. Also at 1 p.m., kids can meet the Borders Explorer, who will be on hand until 2:30 p.m., and then participate in a Harry Potter activity and trivia hour with Professor Arachnia at 3 p.m. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., local celebrity storytellers will entertain kids in the children's department. Face painting with Abra-Kadoodle Magic will take place throughout the afternoon.

On Sunday morning, April 7, relax in the cafe, sip a complementary cup of coffee and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Throughout the day customers can enter to win gift sets as well as a grand prize, a collection of DK Keep It Simple Series books, as a part of DK Publishing's Keep It Simple Sunday. At 1 p.m., sample a vast array of music as a representative from the Warner Music Group Warner Music Group (WMG) is one of the four major record labels.

Warner Music Group also has a publishing arm, Warner/Chappell Music, which dates back to 1929, when Jack Warner, president of Warner Bros. Pictures Inc.
 brings super CDs for your listening pleasure; there will be CD giveaways and a raffle. At 2 p.m., palm reader Zoe Kelly Ward, author of "The Spirituality of the New Millenium," will help you decipher your destiny. Then, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Kevin Carelli will give free chair massages. This event will be followed by a talk titled, "Breaking Through Barriers to Get What You Want," presented by empowerment coach Suzanne Bourland Simpson.
