Aurizon Mines Ltd.: Definition Drilling Extends Known Limits of Zone 113 at Aurizon's Casa Berardi.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Aurizon Mines Ltd. (TSX:ARZ) (AMEX:AZK) is pleased to report additional results from its ongoing Zone 113 underground definition drill program at its Casa Berardi Gold Project, Northwestern Quebec.

"Definition drill results continue to meet expectations" said David P. Hall, Aurizon's Chief Executive Officer. "The impact of these results on the ultimate grade and tonnage of Zone 113 will be determined by the completion of the feasibility study in the fourth quarter of this year."

The Definition Drill Program

The underground drill program, started in November 2003, has drilled a total of 118 holes from the 550 metre level into Zone 113. An additional eight holes were drilled to test ground conditions in the proposed shaft location and along the exploration track drift. Zone 113 initial hole spacing is 25 metres (lateral) by 50 metres (vertical). Drill spacing will be infilled to a 25 metre by 25 metre interval. Seventeen different vertical sections of Zone 113 have been delineated by a series of fanned drill holes. Most of the holes have drilled through the Casa Berardi Fault.

Drilling indicates that Zone 113 is a 20 metre to 70 metre wide mineralized corridor adjacent to the Casa Berardi fault. Gold mineralization is found within narrow to large folded quartz veins and associated wall rock. The mineralized quartz veins are oblique to the Casa Berardi fault, which is 0.1 to 2.0 metres wide in the drilled area. The best grades are found in quartz veins that are folded and possibly faulted. The veins are usually contained within a wider and lower grade mineralized envelope.

The drill program is still in progress. To date, 90% of the 25 metre x 50 metre definition drilling is complete and 50% of the 25 metre x 25 metre infill program is complete in the top portion of the Zone 113 deposit. A deeper definition drill program on the lower portion of Zone 113 (150 metres to 350 metres below the 550 metre level) will start shortly. All underground development work required for the exploration program is now complete.

Quality Control

Drill core assays are performed on split or core sawed in half, with standard fire assay procedures and gravimetric finition. Certified reference material is inserted in the sample sequence for quality control. Assay checking on the pulp and reject samples are carried out systematically. Primary assaying is performed by SGS Geochemical Laboratories of Rouyn-Noranda and check assays are carried out by Chimitec of Val D'Or.

Drill hole planning, implementation and the quality control program is supervised by Robert Crepeau, P.Geol., Principal Mine Geologist, who is an appropriately qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
