Aurelian Resources Wraps Up Ecuador Exploration for 2005 and Plans for 2006.

TORONTO -- Aurelian Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ARU) is gearing down for the holiday season after successful completion of a C$3 million plus 2005 exploration program. The 2005 exploration program consisted of both detailed follow-up work and drilling on more advanced prospects plus the generation of new targets through a first pass regional stream sediment sampling program over the entirety of the 95,000 hectare concession package in southeastern Ecuador.

On the more advanced projects (mostly in the core of the concession area) Aurelian has, in 2005:

- cut and surveyed approximately 61 line kilometers in jungle (168 km to date),

- completed total magnetometer geophysical surveys over 61 line kilometers,

- completed 39 line kilometers of IP geophysical survey over the core project Bonza-Las Penas-Ubewdy area, identifying:

- 16 potential chargeability anomalies of which 3 were drill tested.
   Results included (MD&A August 29, 2005):
      - 5.69 m @ 4.30 g/t of gold and 8 g/t of silver
        (drill hole CP-05-30)
      - 6 m @ 1.92 g/t of gold and 3 g/t of silver (drill
        hole CP-05-31)
      - 22 m @ 0.86 g/t of gold and 5 g/t of silver (drill hole
        CP-05-33)

- diamond drilled 3,236 m (16,845 m to date) on:

 - high grade cross structures in the Bonza-Las Penas gold deposit,
      - including 101 m @ 2.85 g/t of gold in drill hole CP-05-42
        (including 14 m @ 14.47 g/t of gold and 58 g/t of silver)
        (Press Release August 30, 2005)
  - the Tranca Loma copper porphyry,
      - including 75 m of 0.3% copper, ending in mineralization in
        drill hole CP-05-37 (Press Release November 28, 2005).
  - a pull apart basin theory during the course of which a new
        copper porphyry, the Camp Porphyry, was discovered.
      - including 103 m of 0.24% copper, the angled hole ending in
        42.35 m @ 0.31% Cu in drill hole CP-05-46 (Press Release
        November 28, 2005).

- trenched 6,916 m (9,347 m to date) over anomalous geochemical and geophysical targets both by excavator and hand shovel,

- collected 1,852 conventional and 243 MMI geochemical samples (11,278 samples to date).

In addition Aurelian completed 1:2500 and detailed 1:500 scale mapping over the core projects area, including the Bonza-Las Penas gold deposit where Micon International Inc. made an independent inferred mineral resource of 15,030,000 tonnes grading 1.07 g/t gold and 11.6 g/t silver for 517,100 oz of gold and 5,605,500 oz of silver (Press Release December 24, 2004). The deposit is still open along strike.

On the remainder of the concession areas the first pass of a regional reconnaissance stream sediment sampling program was completed by the end of November 2005. Four regional crews covered approximately 95,000 hectares. The crews took 4,736 samples (3,760 in 2005) at over 3,300 sites (2,180 in 2005) during the course of the program. At each site the crews would:

- test for coarse gold and take note of colour counts (gold grains) in heavy mineral pan concentrates processed in the field,

- prospect for outcrops and take rock samples for assay where appropriate,

- test for fine gold and sieve stream sediments to - 80 mesh and send the samples for gold, copper and multi-element assaying.

Final assays for this program have been received and once the results have been compiled the updated results for both gold and copper targets will be released. To date (and not including the final batch of results), the program has uncovered:

- 17 gold targets, including:
     - Bella Vista which returned 47.3 g/t of gold from outcrop
       (Press Release June 8, 2005),
     - Pavo Salvaje which returned 13.75 g/t of gold from outcrop
       (Press Release June 8, 2005).

- 9 copper targets, including:
     - the Tranca Loma copper porphyry,
     - the Camp copper porphyry,
     - the Papaya prospect which has returned assays up to 6.31%
       copper from float (Press Release November 28, 2005).

Another Aurelian highlight of 2005 included the moving of our Operations Office to the San Antonio Camp in the Zamora province of Ecuador and the Administration and Accounting services to Quito, Ecuador. These moves permit Aurelian to focus exploration and logistical operations closer to the project areas while cutting overall costs.

Patrick Anderson, President & CEO of Aurelian Resources states, "2005 saw Aurelian achieve one technical success after another. Early in the year, a scout drilling program, which targeted IP and geochemical anomalies, proved the pervasive nature of gold mineralization in our core area. At our Bonza-Las Penas gold deposit we proved the existence of higher grade structures with the potential for increasing both grade and ounces. On the flanks of this gold deposit we drilled into two large copper porphyry systems, Tranca Loma to the east and Camp to the west, with the potential to further change the economics of the whole system. Our regional teams have completed the monumental task of sampling nearly 95,000 hectares of mining concessions and we expect to release the complete results and target list from this program early in January 2006. We did all this while reducing our expenditures by nearly 60% from the Q1, 2005 levels of C$1.5 million to Q3, 2005 levels of C$0.67 million. It was a banner year. With the data in hand we are now planning for 2006.
