Aurelian Resources Inc.: Trenching Confirms High Gold Values at the Condor Project.Business Editors TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2004 94 Metres of 4.08 G/T G/T Gifted and Talented G/T Gain Over Temperature G/T Antenna Gain-to-System Noise Temperature Ratio Gold Returned from Bonza, and 5 Metres of 21.9 G/T Gold and 78.0 G/T Silver from Las Penas Aurelian Resources Inc. (TSXV:ARU ARU Australian Rugby Union ARU Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge and Chelmsford, UK) ARU Audio Response Unit ARU Ardhi University (Tanzania) ARU Aquarium Rescue Unit (band) ) is pleased to announce assay results from trenching on its 100% wholly owned Condor Project in southeastern Ecuador. The Bonza and Las Penas zones are areas of artisanal mine workings, approximately 2 km north of Aguas Mesas Norte, where Aurelian completed a first-phase drill programme in late 2003. Bonza was drilled in 1997-1998 by a previous operator. The best drill interval returned at that time was 115 metres of 1.58 g/t gold. The zone of mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Mentioned in: Rickets mineralization, n the bioprecipitation of an inorganic substance. has been extended significantly by Aurelian, and all indications are that the Bonza and Las Penas zones represent one continuous zone of bedrock mineralization which joins up and carries beneath a shallow creek. Las Penas is an area of active mine workings where artesanal miners are extracting gold via shallow shafts and adits. It was not known in 1997-98. Bonza Zone A trench that was previously sampled in 1997 was cleaned out and extended, and sampled by continuous chip sampling along two metre lengths. The trench is oriented east-west, across the apparent strike of the zone. The zone consists of argillically altered to silicified si·lic·i·fy v. si·lic·i·fied, si·lic·i·fy·ing, si·lic·i·fies v.tr. It contains one very high assay of 123 g/t gold across 2 metres in quartz stockwork. If this assay is cut to 10 g/t gold, then the interval is 1.67 g/t gold. As can be seen from the values given below, the mineralization is open to both east and west. This trench has never been drilled, and is targeted for diamond drilling Diamond Drilling is a highly specialized industry used for mineral exploration around the world. Most commonly using wireline and core bits with diamond encrusted matrix. To drill holes to max depths of twelve thousand feet, for the recovery of core used in verifying mineral in early February.

Las Penas Several short trenches have been dug in this area, in the vicinity of active and abandoned mine workings. Present feed for the four-man mining operation at the site is coming from a recently discovered chalcedonic chal·ced·o·ny also cal·ced·o·ny n. pl. chal·ced·o·nies A translucent to transparent milky or grayish quartz with distinctive microscopic crystals arranged in slender fibers in parallel bands. quartz and rhodochrosite rhodochrosite Carbonate mineral composed of manganese carbonate (MnCO3), a source of manganese for the ferromanganese alloys used in steel production. It is commonly found in ore veins formed at moderate temperatures, in high-temperature metamorphic deposits, and vein exposed in a shallow pit. This vein was sampled across its width and averaged 21.91 g/t gold and 77.98 g/t silver from five adjacent one-metre continuous chip samples. A characteristic of the Las Penas zone is high silver values from vein material. Two other trenches yielded 1.65 g/t gold over 20 metres (samples 170730 to 170742) and 0.97 g/t over 28 metres (samples 170703 to 170709). Both trenches ended in mineralization. They lie in andesite that is cut by drusy Dru´sy a. 1. (Min.) Covered with a large number of minute crystals. stockwork quartz veining. The trenches lie west and northwest of a previous drill hole which is north of a half kilometer gap which has never received drilling. These trenches are approximately 475 metres south of the trench in the Bonza zone (above results). Soil sampling and pitting carried out in 1997-98 defined a 2 km-long coherent gold anomaly in which Las Penas and Bonza sit. Aurelian will systematically test this zone for grade and continuity by diamond drilling. It represents a potential bulk-tonnage type gold target. Within this target are also higher grade discrete veins. Samples were dispatched from the field to ALS Als (äls), Ger.
