Aura Systems is Awarded Contract for Integrated U.S. Army Power Source.

:AURA) announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to provide an integrated electrical power source for high power military vehicle applications. The contract is for approximately $275,000 dollars and resulted from a competition the company had won and announced last October.

The award is based on the company's patented AuraGen VIPER viper, any of a large number of heavy-bodied, poisonous snakes of the family Viperidae, characterized by erectile, hypodermic fangs. The fangs are folded back against the roof of the mouth except when the snake strikes. , Aura's military version of its 5 kw mobile power generator delivered to the Army under a separately announced contract. The integrated power source calls for the packaging of a 10 kilowatt DC/AC military version of the AuraGen VIPER. The AuraGen VIPER includes a high power DC (direct current) output buss.

Powered by the vehicle's engine, AuraGen provides compact, quiet environmentally clean, as well as electrically clean, power when and where needed. AuraGen's applications are envisioned to provide electric power to remote areas and for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, and other government and civilian service Civilian service is service to a government made as a civilian, particularly such service as an option for anti-militarists and pacifists who object to military service. Examples of countries with thriving civilian service programmes are Switzerland (Swiss Civilian Service),  vehicles. Other expected applications are for use in homes in emergency blackouts, running power tools at construction sites and for recreational vehicles.
