Aura Communications Now Sampling LibertyLink Transceiver; Targeting Volume Deliveries in December; Evaluation Units, Headset Demonstration PCB Available.

WILMINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2001

Aura Communications, Inc., of Wilmington, Mass., announced today it is now sampling its LibertyLink(TM)transceiver (TRANSmitter reCEIVER) An electronic device or circuit that transmits and receives analog or digital signals. It comes in many forms; for example, a transponder on a satellite, a network adapter in the computer or the circuits in a cellphone.  chip and expects to be shipping in volume production by late December. LibertyLink is a single-chip solution that allows full-duplex, secure communications between multiple wireless devices at speeds up to 204 Kbps. Aura sampled first silicon in August.

LibertyLink was in development for two years, culminating in a design that targeted the smallest die size, lowest power and most cost-effective wireless solution to enable the mass consumer market. LibertyLink-powered products will target wireless headsets See headset.  for mobile and cordless phones, telematic applications, game controllers and cord-free computer desktop devices.

In addition to the LibertyLink transceiver, Aura is offering a small form-factor headset Headphones combined with a microphone. Used in call centers and by people in telephone-intensive jobs, headsets provide the equivalent functionality of a telephone handset with hands-free operation. Many people use headsets at the computer so they can converse and type comfortably.  demonstration board, an evaluation system to speed product development and a test interface board to ease manufacturing. For Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), a turnkey `Reference Design' for a wireless headset is available, including a complete Pro-E 3-D model for the plastic housing.
