Aur Resources Inc. Announces Increases in the Proven and Probable Supergene Copper Reserves at the Quebrada Blanca Mine in Chile.TORONTO -- Aur Resources Aur Resources Inc. (TSX: AUR) is a Toronto, Ontario, Canada, based, international mining company active in the acquisition, exploration, development and mining of mineral properties. Inc. (TSX TSX Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE before April, 2002) TSX Transfer from Stack Pointer to Index TSX True Space Extension :AUR) ("Aur") announces that an updated reserve and resource calculation incorporating the results of drilling carried out to December 31, 2003 has increased the proven and probable reserves at the Quebrada Blanca Mine by 38.6 million tonnes to 225.5 million tonnes at a grade of 0.74% Cu and has increased the measured and indicated resources (including the reserves) by 106.2 million tonnes to 328.8 million tonnes at a grade of 0.65% Cu (Table 1). The increase in the reserves is principally a result of outlining additional resources and the upgrading of resources into reserves. The updated reserves and resources are as at December 31, 2003 and include the 15.1 million tonnes of ore expected to be mined in 2004. An updated mine plan incorporating these new reserves and resources has been prepared which is expected to result in life of mine copper production increasing by approximately 60.8 million pounds to 2.0 billion pounds and production being extended to 2016. An additional 68 million pounds of recoverable copper contained in the base for the dynamic heap leach pads is expected to be processed at the end of the minelife. Drilling at Quebrada Blanca is ongoing and the results of the 2004 program will be reported when a new reserve and resource calculation is completed in the second half of 2005. The Quebrada Blanca Mine is an open pit copper mine located in northern Chile which is owned 76.5% by and operated by Aur. Quebrada Blanca brand cathode copper was registered on the London Metal Exchange London Metal Exchange (LME) A market for trading base metals, where traded options contracts are available against the underlying futures contract. on December 9, 2004.

The Quebrada Blanca mineral reserve and resource estimates have been prepared and classified in accordance with the standards established under National Instrument 43-101, Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects. The estimation work was carried out by Neil C. Barr, P.Geo., Qualified Person, Chief Geologist at the Quebrada Blanca Mine as to the resource estimate and by Reinaldo Reyes, Ing. Civil Minas Minas may refer to:

Cyanides are salts or esters of hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid, HCN) formed by replacing the hydrogen with a metal (e.g., sodium or potassium) or a radical (e.g. soluble assays. Proven and probable mineral reserves comprise those portions of the measured resources that are contained within the currently planned final pit design which was derived from the QB04 resource block model and adjusted for the pit topography topography (təpŏg`rəfē), description or representation of the features and configuration of land surfaces. Topographic maps use symbols and coloring, with particular attention given to the shape and elevations of terrain. on December 31, 2003. The mineral resource classification Mineral resource classification is the systematic organization of information on ores and other mineral deposits which contain economic value. The process guides governmental and industrial planning on how to manage the resources. Not all mineralisation meets these criteria. is based on a drilling density of 50 metres x 50 metres x 70 metres for the measured resources, 70 metres x 70 metres x 100 metres for the indicated resources and 100 metres x 100 metres x 141 metres for the inferred resources. Resources that do not qualify as reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability. The reserves and resources are as at December 31, 2003 and include the 15.1 million tonnes of heap leach and dump ore expected to be mined in 2004. Aur Resources Inc. (TSX:AUR) |
