, up to 3,000,000 common shares, being 4 percent of its currently issued 75,170,238 common shares. The aforesaid Before, already said, referred to, or recited.

 proposed purchases may commence on or about October 26, 1998 and will expire on or before October 25, 1999.

The foregoing normal course issuer bid renews Aur's previous normal course issuer bid which expired October 16, 1998 and pursuant to which Aur repurchased 2,038,775 of its outstanding common shares.

Aur believes that currently and from time to time the market price of its common shares does not adequately reflect the value of its assets and future business prospects and accordingly believes that repurchases by it of its common shares can often represent an attractive investment and an appropriate use of its funds. Any repurchases by Aur would also afford an increased degree of liquidity to those of its shareholders who wish to dispose of To determine the fate of; to exercise the power of control over; to fix the condition, application, employment, etc. of; to direct or assign for a use.
