AuntMinnie.com Names Karen Klause President.
Karen A. Klause was today named president of AuntMinnie.com -- a new Internet portal gearing up to be the most comprehensive Internet site for radiologists and professionals in the medical imaging industry.
Klause will use her twenty years of experience in diagnostic imaging to help AuntMinnie.com become the primary online resource for radiology specialists. Updated on a daily basis, the portal will feature original content, as well as radiology-specific articles and educational resources aggregated from a wide variety of sources.
Klause comes to AuntMinnie.com from Digirad Corporation, a developer of revolutionary solid-state detector technology for use in medical and non-medical applications, where she served as president and chief executive officer since 1995.
"We are delighted to have Karen at the helm of AuntMinnie.com. Karen brings a wealth of high level experience as well as a deep understanding in medical imaging to this new endeavor," said Phillip Berman M.D., president and CEO of Lumisys. "We are confident Karen will provide AuntMinnie.com invaluable direction as it meets both the growing interest and needs of the medical imaging community with its own web portal."
"I accepted this position because I felt our industry lacked a comprehensive Internet 'point of entry' an opinion shared by many of my colleagues in radiology," Klause said. "My goal is to make AuntMinnie.com a highly visible and indispensable online resource for medical imaging professionals," Klause said. "The radiology community will be able to easily find the news, research, and education materials, and information they need at AuntMinnie.com."
Prior to Digirad Corporation, Klause held several key management positions at Hybritech Incorporated, including vice president of Strategic Planning, vice president of Sales and Marketing for the In Vivo Imaging and Therapeutics Division, and vice president of Business Development. She also served as president of Hybrigenetics Cancer Research Limited and president of Hybritech Clinical Partners, Ltd.
Klause held various senior management positions at Technicare Corporation, which developed, manufactured and sold diagnostic imaging instrumentation for nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT, MR and digital radiography throughout the world. Klause also directed Technicare's international business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for a number of years, including her role as Managing Director of Technicare Italia s.r.l. in Rome, Italy.
AuntMinnie.com is intended to be the most comprehensive Internet site for radiologists and professionals in the medical imaging industry. AuntMinnie.com will provide a vertical portal for radiologists, imaging managers, technologists, members of organized medicine, industry, and radiology practices to meet, transact, research, and collaborate on topics within the field of radiology with the ease and speed that only the Internet can provide.
"Aunt Minnie," a term that is well known among radiologists, describes a specifically recognized medical condition, much the same way one recognizes the unique face of a favorite aunt. AuntMinnie.com is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lumisys, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUMI), the leading provider of desktop medical imaging appliances.
