Aunt Nicola ready to show her Goodwood best this time out.

AUNT Nicola, a course-and-distance winner at Goodwood as a juvenile, can pounce again at the track in the EBF Chichester Observer Fillies' Stakes.

The Michael Bell-trained filly was rated 88 as a juvenile after coming third in the Listed Empress Stakes at Newmarket.

However, she has never fulfilled the promise of that result and has meandered down the ratings to her current, eminently competitive, mark of 72.

She was second at Nottingham last time out, though, which represented an impressive return to form.

The result is even more impressive when due consideration is given to the trouble Aunt Nicola encountered in running.

She is receiving bags of weight from the majority of her rivals and is fancied to take full advantage.

Cat Junior has been an elusive character for some time, but finally made his seasonal reappearance a week ago at Lingfield, where he ran promisingly in defeat on the all-weather.

Brian Meehan's colt was a consistent and impressive performer last season, however, when his achievements included fourth in the St James's Palace and a narrow second in the Challenge Stakes.

A replication of that sort of form could see the four-year-old capture the Group Three Supreme Stakes, so it is worth taking a chance he is back to his best.

Sulwaan shaped with a good deal of promise on his racecourse introduction at Newcastle and has every chance of getting off the mark in the EBF Old Crossleyans Rugby Club Maiden Stakes at Beverley.

The son of King's Best raced prominently for much of the way on his debut, but a lack of experience and match fitness arguably caught up with him late on.

He was still not beaten all that far into fourth and, with further improvement assured, it would be surprising if he does not get involved in the finish this time around.
