The A+860 1U Server has been introduced by Augmentix Corporation, a provider of computing solutions, based on the Dell PowerEdge 860 1u server and designed to meet the requirements of industrial and military customers.

Augmentix said the new server uses A+ Diamond Thermal Management, Shock and Vibration Protection and Airborne Contaminants Filtration Systems, to ensure continuous and reliable operation in extreme conditions.

According to Augmentix, the A+860 features Single, Dual or Quad Core Intel Xeon processors, a 1066MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  front side bus, high speed dual channel memory and up to 2x4MB L2 cache. It has also shock and front mounted two user accessible SAS (1) (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, www.sas.com) A software company that specializes in data warehousing and decision support software based on the SAS System. Founded in 1976, SAS is one of the world's largest privately held software companies. See SAS System.  or SATA (Serial ATA) A serial version of the ATA (IDE) interface, which has been the de facto standard hard disk interface for desktop PCs for more than two decades. The original Parallel ATA (PATA) interface was launched in 1986.  Hard Disk Drives, providing RAID 0, 1 capabilities and up to 1.5TB of storage.

The company said that by combining its engineering design experience and Dell's PowerEdge server roadmap, it is able to develop durable, powerful rack dense server solutions which offer higher availability levels and are more affordable.

The A+860 uses the company's Server Availability Management Processor (A+SAMP) System, an embedded self contained computer in the A+860 PCIx slot, which is customisable and monitors and reports on server health.
