:VOXX) and Tzero Technologies, the leader in ultra wideband, today announced that they have teamed together to deliver a new generation of products - wireless high-definition multimedia adapters - aimed at dramatically simplifying the connections between home audio/video components. Marketed under the Terk brand name, these new products will use ultra wideband (UWB (Ultra-WideBand) A wireless technology that uses less power and provides higher speed than 802.11 Wi-Fi networks or first-generation Bluetooth products. UWB is expected to provide wireless video transmission for home theater systems, cable TV, auto safety and ) to distribute high-definition video streams within a home and dramatically reduce the installation and equipment costs. The Wireless for HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) A digital interface for audio and video signals designed as a single-cable solution for home theater and consumer electronics equipment.  Transmitter/Receiver (HDMI-UWB) will be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (January 8 - 11, 2007) and demonstrated in Audiovox's booth (#10506-11006) and Tzero's booth (#15210).

"We believe the digital living room will ultimately be a wireless one. Audiovox is introducing a range of products and technologies that will free the consumer from the disadvantages inherent in the cumbersome and confusing cable connections required for today's home entertainment products," said Hank Caskey, vice president, Accessories Group for Audiovox. "We also believe ultra wideband is one of the key technologies that will deliver, with the quality required, the reality of the wireless home. Consumers want their flat panels on the wall but don't want the hassles that come with installing and using unsightly cables."

The product features non-line-of-sight operation that enables devices to communicate wirelessly through walls and extend across multiple rooms. It also features transmission quality equal to that of wired solutions. The input from video devices can be HDMI, component video, composite video, and analog audio. The output to the HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates  is industry-standard HDMI. Tzero's UWB solutions are a perfect complement to existing Terk offerings. With Tzero, the new product will operate wirelessly to connect devices throughout the home. It will deliver transmission speeds up to 480 megabits per second (unit) megabits per second - (Mbps, Mb/s) Millions of bits per second. A unit of data rate. 1 Mb/s = 1,000,000 bits per second (not 1,048,576).

Tzero's platform is based on standards from the WiMedia Alliance and is guaranteed to coexist with other WiMedia-compliant devices.

"We're excited to be working with Audiovox and share their vision of the wireless digital home," said Dan Karr, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Tzero. "This offering will distribute video throughout the home without the need for any new wires, significantly reducing installation costs and making access to high-definition content more convenient than ever before."
