IRVINE, Calif. -- AudioQuest, a manufacturer and supplier of specialty A/V interconnects and cables, today announced the availability of the Quantum Data HT-180 Handshake Tester for HDMI. This new lightweight, portable test instrument enables A/V custom installers to identify the root cause of HDMI interoperability problems encountered in both field and shop environments.

The new product incorporates expertise gained through Quantum Data's extensive work in creating HDMI and HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) An encryption system for enforcing digital rights management (DRM) over DVI and HDMI interfaces. By diagnosing problems on the job site, installers can avoid costly trips back to the head office that might otherwise be done to check or replace equipment.

The HT-180 can test up to three HDMI devices at one time including HD sources (e.g. set-top-box or Blu-Ray player), A/V receivers or switchers, and HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture.
