AudioCodes (Nasdaq:AUDC), a leading provider of IP Telephony and voice over packet technologies, announced today the general availability of its new TPM-200 PMC Module targeted at IP-PBXs and VoIP gateway applications.

The TPM-200 is the industry's first generally available media gateway on a PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) module. With the AudioCoded TPM-200, OEMs can quickly integrate 60 channels of VoIP / FoIP into their existing platforms and enter the fast expanding voice over packet network market.

The TPM-200, the first member in a series of Media Gateway Modules, is based on AudioCodes' award winning, field proven, TrunkPack VoIP communication board architecture already installed in hundreds of thousands of lines worldwide. The TPM media gateway series is designed to be both forward and backward compatible so that OEMs can take advantage of new architectures and DSPs that offer dramatic improvements in cost and PCB size per channel. Using the TPM-200, OEMs can exploit new silicon economics through relatively easy upgrades and maintain the same TPM-200 hardware and software interfaces when implementing future "AudioCoded" modules offering higher densities with more functionality. As a result, OEMs can keep pace with rapid silicon enhancements, upgrade their solution without a base board hardware redesign, and remain ahead of their competition.

The TPM-200 is an ideal solution for OEMs building VoIP capabilities into their proprietary form factor platforms with the ability to tile several TPM-200's into their carrier card design. The TPM-200 has been tested during the past six months by several leading voice over packet platform developers before qualifying for general availability.

The AudioCoded TPM-200 Media Gateway Module is a highly integrated PMC module that tiles as a PMC daughter card on OEM designed carrier cards. Based on Texas Instruments' TMS320C549 DSP chip, the TPM-200 delivers 60 VoIP channel processing. The module accepts PCM voice on one end, performs all necessary signal processing, signalling and control functions, and sends out packetized voice over an Ethernet interface. In a typical VoIP Media Gateway application, the TPM-200 accepts uncompressed 64 Kbps voice traffic over a PCM highway and drives VoIP and FoIP packets out through a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface. The TPM-200 is controlled through MGCP and supports the AudioCodes proprietary VoIP API library.
