AudioCodes Introduces its First Media Gateway PMC Module.

Business Editors and Technology Writers

YEHUD, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000

The "AudioCoded" TPM-200 Will Enable OEMs To Quickly Integrate

VoIP And VoDSL Into Their Proprietary Integrated Access Devices,

IP-PBXs And VoIP Gateway Solutions

AudioCodes (Nasdaq:AUDC AUDC Austin Development Center

Module targeted at IP-PBXs and VoIP gateway applications.

The TPM-200 is the industry's first generally available media gateway on a PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card (hardware) PCI Mezzanine Card - (PMC) A family of low profile mezzanine cards for VMEbus, Futurebus+, desktop computers and other computer systems with logical and electrical layers based on the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) specification. PMC is defined in IEEE P1386. ) module. With the AudioCoded TPM-200, OEMs can quickly integrate 60 channels of VoIP / FoIP into their existing platforms and enter the fast expanding voice over packet network market.

The TPM-200, the first member in a series of Media Gateway Modules, is based on AudioCodes' award winning, field proven, TrunkPack VoIP communication board architecture already installed in hundreds of thousands of lines worldwide. The TPM (1) See TP monitor.

size per channel. Using the TPM-200, OEMs can exploit new silicon economics through relatively easy upgrades and maintain the same TPM-200 hardware and software interfaces when implementing future "AudioCoded" modules offering higher densities with more functionality. As a result, OEMs can keep pace with rapid silicon enhancements, upgrade their solution without a base board hardware redesign, and remain ahead of their competition.

"The TPM-200 will help us accelerate our development cycle time and extend our market leadership in enhanced voice services by allowing us to offer Voice Over IP technology in our current products," said Ed Yackey, Voyant's CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey. . "We are very pleased that AudioCodes has a generally available PMC module that we can quickly integrate into our platforms today." Voyant Technologies, Inc. provides a leading platform and toolbox for intelligent voice applications to over 200 customers in 22 countries.

The TPM-200 is an ideal solution for OEMs building VoIP capabilities into their proprietary form factor platforms with the ability to tile several TPM-200's into their carrier card design. The TPM-200 has been tested during the past six months by several leading voice over packet platform developers before qualifying for general availability.

"AudioCodes developed the TPM-200 to address the requirements of proprietary based platforms that are typically used in high-end IAD (Integrated Access Device) A device that multiplexes a variety of communications technologies in the customer's premises onto a single telephone line for transmission to the carrier. It also demultiplexes the incoming streams into their respective channels.  and VoIP solutions" said AudioCodes Vice President of Business Development Ben Rabinowitz . "This solution helps OEMs to quickly bundle packetized voice into their existing solutions and then offer a value proposition that includes; migration to Next-Gen networks, multi-services over DSL DSL

The AudioCoded TPM-200 Media Gateway Module is a highly integrated PMC module that tiles as a PMC daughter card on OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  chip, the TPM-200 delivers 60 VoIP channel processing. The module accepts PCM voice on one end, performs all necessary signal processing, signalling and control functions, and sends out packetized voice over an Ethernet interface. In a typical VoIP Media Gateway application, the TPM-200 accepts uncompressed 64 Kbps voice traffic over a PCM highway and drives VoIP and FoIP packets out through a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface. The TPM-200 is controlled through MGCP See MGCP/MEGACO.
