See: New York Stock Exchange
:MOT) Computer Group (MCG) today demonstrated at Voice-on-the-Net an integrated, carrier-grade Signaling System 7/Internet protocol (SS7/IP) media gateway to enable voice and service interoperability between existing circuit-switched voice networks and next-generation packet-switched networks. By bringing together industry leading technologies from all three companies, the combined offering is designed to speed time-to-market for next-generation network solution providers.

The integrated signaling/media gateway uses Motorola's high-availability, Linux-based, CompactPCI(R) chassis with AudioCodes' voice-over-IP (VoIP) and voice-over-ATM (VoATM) CompactPCI boards and Performance Technologies' SS7/IP signaling software and embedded CompactPCI IP Ethernet switch A device that connects clients and servers to each other in an Ethernet network. See switched Ethernet. . The integrated gateway provides all the media processing See media control.  and signaling capabilities required to bridge today's SS7-based voice networks with next-generation IP/ATM data networks.

"We are committed to integrating best-in-class complementary technologies that allow our OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers to get to market faster," said Shabtai Adlersberg, AudioCodes CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "Performance Technologies' signaling and embedded packet switching expertise, together with Motorola's global telecom experience, are values we are proud to bring to our customers."

Tom McKearney, vice president and director of marketing telecommunications business at MCG, said, "This SS7/IP gateway is an excellent example of how we are working with participants in our partner program to provide the innovative IP telephony components our telecom OEM customers need to succeed in such a competitive market. By integrating Motorola's DigitalDNA technology with high-quality modules, software and switches from AudioCodes and Performance Technologies into one solution, telecom OEMs can concentrate on perfecting their value-add. This will help them to more quickly get their products where they need to be--with their customers."

"Next-generation telecom equipment manufacturers are demanding more value-added components from their suppliers," said Don Turrell, CEO of Performance Technologies. "By leveraging our strengths in SS7/IP signaling and embedded CompactPCI IP Ethernet switching with those of key players such as AudioCodes and Motorola, PTI PTI - Portable Tool Interface  is able to offer our customers progressive, highly integrated IP telephony products for next-generation networks."

The integrated signaling/media gateway includes:
-- AudioCodes' TP-600, an octal T1 CompactPCI board that supports 192 VoIP
channels over dual 100BT interfaces, and a newly announced CompactPCI/ATM
board, with integrated VoATM/AAL2 functionality over an integrated OC-3
interface.

-- Performance Technologies' MicroLegend(R) SS7/IP signaling software, CPC380
Quad T1/E1 SS7 module, and the recently announced CPC4400 embedded Layer 2/3
CompactPCI IP Ethernet switch. The CPC4400 enables dramatic improvements in
system performance by allowing each module in the gateway to be connected by
high-speed Ethernet.

-- Motorola Computer Group's CPX8216 and CPX1204 NEBS-compliant CompactPCI
chassis and advanced high availability software for Linux offering.

The integrated signaling/media gateway will be demonstrated this week at the Fall 2000 Voice-on-the-Net show in Atlanta at both Performance Technologies' booth (#542/544) and AudioCodes' booth (#120). The demonstration will showcase SS7/IP signaling and call processing associated with the set up, management and tear-down of voice calls between circuit-switched and packet-switched networks.
