Auctioneer submits plans for larger facility.

Byline: Development Report By Joe Harwood The Register-Guard

Brasher's Northwest Auto Auction is planning to build a new auction facility with offices on 19 acres north of East Enid Road in Eugene.

In plans submitted to the city, the company said it wants to build a 15,600-square-foot metal building. Approximately 11,400-square feet of that space would be used for auctions. The remaining 4,200 square feet would be used for offices, including a mezzanine mez·za·nine

Estimated cost of the project, which would be built next to the company's auto salvage and auction yard, is $800,000.

In Eugene, Brasher's also operates a separate auction facility at 2506 Prairie prairie

It is unclear whether the company intends to consolidate its Prairie Road operation into the new Enid Road facility, or maintain both. Brasher's Eugene general manager, Lisa Larkin, did not return calls from The Register-Guard seeking comment.

The bulk of the company's business comes from wholesale auctions, where car dealers from around the West come to buy and sell vehicles.

Those vehicles come from a variety of sources - bank and finance company repossessions, dealer trade-ins, dealer consignments and rental and lease car fleets.

The auctions serve as a clearinghouse for dealers to move trade-ins or used vehicles that haven't sold in other venues. The auctions also allow used dealers to find vehicles that will sell well on their lots.

Brasher's also operates a salvage business at both its Eugene auction yards, where the company auctions damaged vehicles purchased by insurance companies from policy holders.
