Auction of Washington Wines Presents Three ''Rings'' of Exciting Events; Tickets on Sale Now for PICNIC, Winemaker Dinners and Gala Auction.


SEATTLE -- The Auction of Washington Wines proudly presents a three-day, three-ring extravaganza featuring fabulous food, wine, and entertainment with dazzling feats of fundraising. Tickets are now on sale for the Washington wine industry's premier philanthropic event, featuring more than 175 Washington wineries and celebrity chefs from across the state. The 2005 Auction of Washington Wines makes its debut under the big top at Chateau Ste. Michelle The Chateau Ste. Michelle is a Washington winery in Woodinville, Washington. They are noted for their bestselling Riesling (as the largest single producer of Riesling in the world), but produce wines of many classic varietals and some experimental wines on a per-year basis. Ste.  Winery in Woodinville, Wash., August 11-13. Tickets are available through the Auction of Washington Wines website at www.auctionofwashingtonwines.org.

"The Auction of Washington Wines weekend has an event for everyone, from the casual, kick-off-your-shoes feel of PICNIC, to the intimacy of our privately-hosted Winemaker Dinners, to the classic black-tie appeal of our Gala Auction," said Carol Munro, Auction of Washington Wines Executive Director. "All three events will be woven together with a fun and festive circus theme, making this year's Auction of Washington Wines a weekend to remember."

The Auction has raised more than $13.5 million since its inception in 1988.

The Washington Wine Education Foundation supports 2-year and 4-year collegiate programs in Washington viticulture and enology. A portion of funds raised at the Auction of Washington Wines goes directly to the state's educational partners, including Washington State University Washington State University, at Pullman; land-grant and state supported; chartered 1890, opened 1892 as an agriculture college. From 1905 to 1959 it was the State College of Washington. , Yakima Valley Community College and Walla Walla Community College. These academic institutions began a collaborative effort in 2001 to create quality enological education programs that graduate students with the skills necessary to further Washington's growing wine industry.
