Attorney General's Statement in Response to Court of Appeals Decision Denying Time Extension On Beckman Appeal.Legal Writers OLYMPIA, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2000 We are disappointed by today's decision but we obviously respect the Court's opinion. We will review today's opinion to determine whether an appeal is appropriate. The Attorney General's Office has learned a very tough lesson and has accepted responsibility for the missed appeal. We will do everything we can to avoid this from happening again. When we learned of the missed deadline in the Beckman appeal, we took immediate action to 1) request an extension of time for the appeal from the Court of Appeals and 2) to have an independent investigation of the circumstances to determine how this could have happened.
