ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 1999--

You are hereby notified that Chitwood & Harley has filed a securities class action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida on behalf of a class of persons and entities who purchased Aviation Sales Company common stock between June 11, 1999 and September 17, 1999, inclusive (the "Class Period").

The complaint alleges that the Company and certain of its officers and directors violated certain provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by misrepresenting to the investing public that the Company expected an increase in demand for certain of its services in order to achieve the Company's goal of reporting substantially increased revenue and earnings during the Class Period. Rather than reveal that demand was weakening and delivery dates were being extended, defendants falsely assured investors that the Company expected increasing demand and significant growth, the complaint alleges. Furthermore, when the Company's stock price began to decline in late August 1999, the Company represented to the public that it was unaware of any undisclosed corporate activities or developments that would have caused a drop in the Company's stock price. The defendants, however, failed to reveal the true state of affairs at the Company during the Class Period because the Company was trying to accomplish a merger using Aviation Sales' common stock as consideration, and the defendants knew this information would jeopardize the chances of completing a merger. The complaint alleges that Defendants' misrepresentations and/or omissions caused the price of Aviation Sales' stock to be artificially inflated during the Class Period.
