Attendees Catch the Rhythm in Nashville. (2002 Agri-Marketing Conference).Music City USA was host to The National Agri-Marketing Association's 2002 Agri-Marketing Conference & Trade Show, April 17-19. The theme of the conference was "Catch the Rhythm" and attendees were able to do just that via keynote speaker presentations, the Best of NAMA/Golden ARC Awards ceremony, networking sessions, professional development seminars and the Trade Show. The opening session kicked off with Dr. Stephen Lundin, author of the best-seller, FISH! Lundin shared with attendees his FISH philosophy of bringing joy and passion to the workplace. "We should not settle for doing anything less than what we love to do," said Lundin and brought the crowd to their feet for a standing ovation. He was on hand afterwards to sign his book FISH! and his recently released Fish Tales and attendees lined up to purchase the book. The second general session had two parts. The first part featured Doane economist, Rich Pottorff who talked about agri-strategies for survival. His presentation outlined challenges facing the industry and strategies for prosperity. The second part of the session featured the results from interviews with industry leaders that were conducted prior to conference. These interviews focused on what these leaders thought about the future of agriculture. Market Directions conducted the interviews and Susan Spaulding, founder and president, was on hand to share the results. Afterwards Hank Moore presented the process behind decision-maker think tanks. This presentation was geared toward helping attendees apply big picture vision to the changing agribusiness world. Closing the conference was Erik Wahl. His motivational presentation was unique in that while he spoke to the riveted attendees he painted a picture on the stage. At the end of his presentation the picture revealed itself as an abstract painting of Albert Einstein. This picture will be for sale at next year's ABEF ABEF Australian Business Excellence Framework (horticulture; Australia) Silent Auction. Wahl's inspirational presentation also brought the crowd to their feet.
