Attack charge.


A PENSIONER PENSIONER. One who is supported by an allowance at the will of another. It is more usually applied to him who receives an annuity or pension from the government.  has appeared in court over an alleged machete knife attack on an allotment holder.

Leonard Fionda, of Calf Close Walk, Jarrow, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court after the incident in which Joe Holland, 66, suffered facial injuries facial injuries,

Fionda, 76, is charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage to a car.

He spoke to confirm his name.

The alleged attack happened at allotments just off Springwell Road, Jarrow, around 3.20pm, last Wednesday.

Magistrates remanded Fionda in custody and he is due to return to Newcastle Crown Court on April 14.
