Attachmate to Deliver 3270 Tools for Computer Associates' COBOL Client/Server Environments as a Member of CA's Development Partnership Program; Attachmate's QuickApp offers integration with CA-Visual Realia to deliver a total solution for COBOL-to-Client/Server migration.

(CA) to provide support for CA-Visual Realia(tm) in QuickApp(r), Attachmate(r) Corp.'s revolutionary graphical client-to-host development tool.

CA-Visual Realia is a fully integrated client/server tool that allows COBOL programmers to easily create mission-critical graphical applications. Attachmate's QuickApp extends this capability by easily incorporating host screen-based information into these new client/server applications while eliminating the need to write communications code.

QuickApp support for CA-Visual Realia will be available for Windows 3.1 (using CA-Visual Realia version 1.0) and for Windows 95 with full OCX support (using CA-Visual Realia version 2.0). Under the partnership, Attachmate has become a member of CA's Development Partnership Program, which has been recently expanded to include CA-Visual Realia. Attachmate is the first member under the CA-Visual Realia umbrella.

The Attachmate navigation engine insulates application developers from the communications and HLLAPI complexities involved in host-to-client/server development. By eliminating the need to understand communications programming, QuickApp enables developers to deploy new client/server and desktop applications using graphical tools such as CA-Visual Realia in a fraction of the time.

CA-Visual Realia uses a Windows-based visual programming environment to provide veteran COBOL programmers with new, highly productive tools for creating and updating new applications, yet retains the full functionality of COBOL. CA-Visual Realia includes everything users need to build Windows applications: project management, client/server application development, enterprise-wide data access via ODBC, a personal database, GUI report writer, version control, configuration manager, forms editor, COBOL Workbench, COBOL analysis, navigation and debugging support, database administration facilities, and more.
