BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 1996--UNIFORUM-- Attachmate - The Intranet Company(TM) - has enhanced its EXTRA!(R) X and KEA!(TM) products to further extend their powerful capabilities to include Windows(R) 95 and Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (TM) systems.

EXTRA! X 2.0

EXTRA! X 2.0 is a powerful PC X server that integrates X applications with the Windows environment (1) (upper case "W") Refers to computers running under a Microsoft Windows operating system.

(2) (lower case "w") Also called a "windowing environment," it refers to any software that provides multiple windows on screen such as Windows, Mac, Motif and X Window.
. Attachmate's EXTRA! X is a 32-bit application specifically designed to provide Windows NT and Windows 95 users with seamless access to X applications. EXTRA! X carries Microsoft's Windows 95 certification. The product is also available for the Windows 3.1 environment.

X allows UNIX customers running X applications, or anyone running Windows on the desktop and wanting access to X applications, to replace X terminals with Windows PCs An x86-based computer that runs some version of Windows. KEA! is Attachmate's award-winning software that allows Windows 95 desktop users to access DEC(R) VAX (Virtual Address eXtension) A venerable family of 32-bit computers from HP (via Digital and Compaq) introduced in 1977 with the VAX-11/780. VAX models ranged from desktop units to mainframes all running the same VMS operating system, and VAXes could emulate PDP models (R), Alpha AXP The brand name Digital gave to its first family of Alpha-based computers.
