Attachmate Names Kurt Springman Market Manager for Windows and Multi-Host Products; Local City Councilman Becomes the Newest Member of the Attachmate Team.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1999--

Attachmate Corporation today announced the appointment of Kurt Springman as Market Manager.

Mr. Springman has been a Microsoft(R) (MSFT) Certified Professional (MCP) since 1998, and will supervise strategic product marketing for EXTRA!(R) Personal Client and other Windows(R) desktop-based products for Attachmate. Initially, Springman will be focused on positioning and marketing Attachmate(R) products that are compatible with Microsoft's soon to be released Windows 2000 platform.

Springman brings a wealth of experience with Windows Terminal Server and UNIX-based systems to his new position. In his most recent position, he coordinated Corporate Strategic Relations for Compaq(R) (CPQ) in the Seattle area, where his duties included sustaining internal relationships between managers and engineers as well as developing and coordinating strategic relationships with Microsoft and Citrix(R) (CTXS). Springman also managed marketing for Compaq's Enterprise Solutions Center, a technical customer briefing facility and resource center specializing in Microsoft Windows NT(R) technologies and UNIX(R) integration services.

Mr. Springman complements his technical knowledge and business acumen with demonstrated political savvy. He is currently serving a four year term on the City Council of Bellevue, WA that began in 1996. He has also served as the vice president and owner of Prestige Events from 1991-1996, an investment banking officer at JP Morgan from 1987 to 1991, and an associate at Merrill Lynch Securities' Mortgage Backed Securities Desk from 1986-87. Mr. Springman was a Certified Public Accountant, and received a MBA from New York University.
