Attachmate Makes the Most Out of a Y2K Working Weekend; Attachmate is providing a New Year's Eve party for employees and their families working that evening.

Attachmate Corporation, the second largest software company in Washington, is treating its employees that work New Year's Eve to an evening of business as well as pleasure.

Members of Attachmate's Technical Support and MIS departments are working on the eve of Y2K; they will be given a catered dinner, and a TV feed will be provided so they can watch the New Year's Eve activities around the world. Employees are also invited to have their families at work that evening.

"We have people who are required to work on New Year's Eve and throughout the night, verifying that all of our world wide networks and computer systems function correctly," said Terry Prether, vice president of information technology. "However, we recognize this event as an important lifetime holiday. We are hosting a New Year's party for them and their families complete with dinner, hors d'oeuvres at midnight, and games for the children. We want the employees to be able to spend New Year's Eve with their families, and allow them to provide personal security for their families if they are uncomfortable being separated due to possible Year 2000 events."
