SEATTLE -- Attachmate Corporation today announced Attachmate[R] Reflection[R] 2008, the next-generation of terminal emulation software that allows organizations to take the mainframe anywhere. Reflection 2008 software includes support for leading virtualization technologies, unique security capabilities and unmatched customization support built on Microsoft .NET See .NET.  Framework, Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) A subset of Visual Basic that provides a common language for customizing Microsoft applications. With today's current economic climate, organizations are focused on identifying ways to do more with less, leveraging existing resources more effectively and ultimately cutting costs. However, IT managers are still faced with the rising demand for remote access and heightened security. Reflection 2008 enables enterprises to meet these demands, while also increasing productivity. Reflection 2008 combines the most advanced Windows and browser-based terminal emulators into one robust solution to give developers, IT project and desktop managers and network administrators the ability to securely extend mainframe data to users wherever they do business.

"Over the years, our customers have asked us to help improve end-user productivity with highly customizable solutions that won't compromise security," said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing for Attachmate. "Reflection 2008 delivers on that request in a big way. Integration with Microsoft Office Microsoft's primary desktop applications for Windows and Mac. Depending on the package, it includes some combination of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook along with various Internet and other utilities.  2007, VBA, and .NET provides complete customization freedom. We've also strengthened our security capabilities with privacy filters, trusted locations, and UAC (User Account Control) The management of user accounts in Windows Vista. Because malware has greater control of the computer when it is running in administrator mode, UAC was designed to enable more users to run their computers as a standard user rather than as  support. Reflection 2008 really is next-generation terminal emulation."
