Attachmate's EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2 exceeds customer performance demands.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1996--Attachmate(r) Corp. today announced EXTRA!(r) Personal Client version 6.2, the next generation of its award-winning universal information access software.

With the release of version 6.2, Attachmate bolsters EXTRA! Personal Client as a high-performance enterprise solution that has been proven to reduce overall IS cost and increase end user productivity in production environments worldwide. EXTRA! Personal Client provides easily managed desktop connectivity to any data source -- public or private -- from both local and remote locations. EXTRA! Personal Client is a total 16- and 32-bit Windows(r) solution that meets the Windows 95 and Windows NT(r) platform migration challenges of Fortune 1000 companies.

EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2 includes significant performance enhancements for load time and file transfer. EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2's 32-bit component is 43 percent faster than version 6.1 when loading 5 sessions on a Windows NT workstation. Other performance enhancements include improved memory utilization and optimized API (applications programming interface) support. The net result is that users spend less time accessing needed information and applications.

EXTRA! Personal Client provides access to mission-critical information regardless of where that information resides or the location of the end-user. EXTRA! Personal Client provides universal access which is network and protocol independent, includes multi-host connectivity (mainframe, AS/400, VAX, and UNIX), SNA-to-TCP/IP capabilities, Internet access, remote LAN access, network software distribution and asset management tools, and a collaborative workgroup client.

EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2 will be available in September 1996, with a U.S. suggested retail price of $425. Users of other Attachmate products can trade-up to EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2 for U.S. $212.50. Current EXTRA! Personal Client users can trade-up to the most recent version for U.S. $127.50.

Both trade-up offers will be available through Dec. 31, 1996. EXTRA! Personal Client 6.2 is available to the channel through major distributors including Merisel, Ingram Micro, and TechData. Localized German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese versions will be available late 1996, with Swedish and Danish versions available early 1997.
