Atta wins prestigious TWAS Regional Science Prize.ISLAMABAD, October 22, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman has been conferred upon prestigious The Regional Science Prize. The Italy-based Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, generally known as Third World Academy of Sciences TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world -- until 2004 named Third World Academy of Sciences -- is a merit-based science academy uniting more than 800 scientists from some 90 countries. (TWAS TWAS Third World Academy of Sciences ), conferred the award upon Dr. Atta at a ceremony held in Durban, South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa. , on Thursday, says a message received here. The award has been conferred upon Dr Atta in recognition to his services for building scientific institutions in Pakistan. Atta who has been the countrys science minister and chairman of the Higher Education higher education Study beyond the level of secondary education. Institutions of higher education include not only colleges and universities but also professional schools in such fields as law, theology, medicine, business, music, and art.
