Atrus Names Cardiovascular Medical Device Industry Veteran, Richard O. Martin, to Board of Directors; Former President of Medtronic Physio-Control Corp. Joins Emergency Response Technology Company.


PORTLAND, Ore. -- Atrus, Inc., today announced that Richard O. Martin, Ph.D., has joined its board of directors. Martin brings more than two decades of experience leading Fortune 500 companies in the cardiovascular medical device industry. Martin became president of Physio-Control Corporation, the worldwide leader in external defibrillation, monitoring and noninvasive pacing devices, in 1991 when the company was part of Eli Lilly and Company's Medical Devices and Diagnostics Division. He successfully instituted company-wide quality improvement programs, rebuilt the management team and took the company public. Martin retired in 2001 as president of Medtronic Physio-Control Corp. Previously, Martin was the vice president for cardiovascular business development at Sulzermedica, Inc. He also held several senior positions in engineering, marketing and sales with Intermedics, Inc., and was named president and COO of that company in 1985.
