Atrocities by troops on Muslims in Jammu condemned.

ISLAMABAD, August 24, 2009 (Balochistan Times): The Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyet (TeH) in occupied Kashmir has strongly condemned the atrocities on Muslims in Jammu region especially in Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri districts by Indian troops and Special Task Force. According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement, the TeHs President of Doda district, Noor Muhammad Fayaz said, There is virtually a jungle Raj in the Muslim dominated areas of Jammu. He said, the laborers are picked up from roads and lodged in camps where they are subjected to physical and mental torture for weeks together and are set free in moribund condition after extortion of money from them. Fencing near LoC by troops immensely hits life in Gurez ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP): The fencing near the Line of Control by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir has made the life of the people miserable in Gurez as they cannot cultivate their land. According to Kashmir Media Service, the residents of Bagotere, Darwer, Achoora, Kilshay, Zidgai, Tulail told media men that major chunk of their agricultural land had been fenced out leaving them at the mercy of the personnel of Indian Border Security Force (BSF). We are not being allowed to cross the fence for carrying out farming on our land. Our demand for shifting the barbed wire fence has not been conceded by the authorities so far, said Muhammad Anwar Khan, a local who owns a small shop. Anwar said that he used to earn over one lakh rupees by harvesting potato, wheat and pulses in over 20 kanals of land prior to the raising of the barbed wire. After the fencing, I am living hand to mouth. Troopers are not allowing me to harvest the crop, he added. Farmers of the areas said that the troopers had erected the fence inside villages, which directly affected their source of revenue. We were solely dependent on our land for our livelihood. 90 percent of our land has been brought under fending, said Ghulam Ali Lone.
