It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and  (EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

). As part of its Green Chemistry initiative, the EPA is seeking to develop alternative sterilization technologies to replace the use of ethylene oxide. Presently, ethylene oxide is commonly used to sterilize materials. Although very effective, it is classified as a Group B1 (probable) carcinogen by the U.S. EPA.

AGT's objective was to demonstrate that its patented technology, One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP OAUGDP One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (TM)), could be a feasible alternative. AGT's technology creates reactive oxygen-based gases that inactivate microorganisms in order to sterilize materials. Based upon the success of a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR SBIR Small Business Innovation Research (program/grant)

) contract, funded earlier this year by the EPA, AGT has chosen to seek competitive follow-on funding through a Phase II SBIR contract in order to continue development of its environmentally friendly process.

AGT is a market driven science and engineering company focused on realizing the commercial potential of the OAUGDP(TM) technology, a method for creating plasma chemistry in air at atmospheric pressure. Management believes that the OAUGDP(TM) is an exciting breakthrough proprietary technology offering capabilities that other plasma technologies do not provide. Moreover, AGT is working to expand the applicability of its OAUGDP(TM) technology and has targeted new market and product opportunities with the goal of creating additional shareholder value. AGT's technology has been the recipient of numerous federal contracts and grants and recognition awards. Additional information is available at http://www.atmosphericglow.com.
