Atmel and ISD Settle Patent Infringement Dispute.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2000

) and Information Storage Devices, Inc. (ISD See IDD. ) jointly announced today that they have settled their respective disputes concerning Atmel's assertions of patent infringement patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver.  and misappropriation misappropriation n. the intentional, illegal use of the property or funds of another person for one's own use or other unauthorized purpose, particularly by a public official, a trustee of a trust, an executor or administrator of a dead person's estate, or by any  of trade secrets by ISD and ISD's assertions of related counterclaims against Atmel, which were pending before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (Case No. C95-01987SC). Pursuant to the parties' settlement agreement, Atmel granted ISD a license to certain technology, including U.S. Patent No. 4,511,811, entitled "Charge Pump for Providing Programming Voltage to the Word Lines in a Semiconductor Memory Array." All other terms of the agreement are confidential.
