) commented today that based on October and November results to-date, the fourth quarter remains in line with guidance provided during the company's most recent quarterly earnings conference call.

George Perlegos, Atmel's president and chief executive officer, stated, "We see very strong demand for Atmel devices used by a wide variety of products such as digital cameras, fingerprint sensors, wireless LANs for networking products, and secure smart cards Example of widely used contactless smart cards are Hong Kong's Octopus card, Paris' Calypso/Navigo card and Lisbon' LisboaViva card, which predate the ISO/IEC 14443 standard. The following tables list smart cards used for public transportation and other electronic purse applications.  for e-commerce and PC security applications."
