Atlas Mining Company Continues Work in Mexico.OSBURN, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--Atlas Mining Company (OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). BB:ALSM ALSM Airborne Laser Swath Mapping (land survey) ALSM Aqualogic SOA Management ALSM Acquisition Logistic Support Manager ALSM Associate, London School of Music ) announced that it is completing metallurgical met·al·lur·gy n. 1. The science that deals with procedures used in extracting metals from their ores, purifying and alloying metals, and creating useful objects from metals. 2. studies to determine the best methods of ore recovery at its San Acacio silver mine in Zacatecas, Mexico. Herb Osburne has been hired as the consulting metallurgist to supervise the studies. Osburne has over 35 years of experience in the metallurgical field and holds a degree from the Colorado School of Mines Colorado School of Mines, at Golden; state supported, coeducational; chartered 1874. It was one of the first mineral engineering schools in the United States. . After completing field work on the property this past two weeks, samples have been shipped to Reno, Nev. where preliminary studies are being conducted at the American Assay Labs. Column tests and metallurgical testing will be completed by McClelland Labs. Management stated that the results of these tests will ascertain the best methods for processing the San Acacio ores once they are mined. The testing, in combination with the existing resource figures, will also allow the company to make a reserve calculation. The San Acacio mine currently has a silver resource of 14.4 million ounces. When calculating the reserves the company will hire an independent group to insure validity. "This step moves Atlas closer to making the San Acacio mine reality." stated William Jacobson William Jacobson (1803-1884) was Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford University (1848–1865) and Bishop of Chester (1865–1884). He married Eleanor Jane Turner, the youngest daughter of the banker Dawson Turner in 1836. Their son was the surgeon W.H.A. Jacobson. , company president. In other news of company activities, Atlas announced its acquisition of five additional patented mining claims near Murray, Idaho, and in the general area of other Atlas holdings in North Idaho. The claims have had little mining activity on them since the early 1900's, however they do have significant mineral potential and also contain marketable timber.
