,' is available to Internet subscribers in Springfield and the Southwest Missouri area. This service responds to the demands for high-speed Internet access of customers in outlying areas. The Skynet solution uses one-way satellite technology to allow users to surf the Internet and download files at speeds up to 400kbps -- a significant increase over dial-up connections that max out at 56kbps.

For a limited time, Atlas Communications is offering a $50 rebate to customers who sign up with this new service by May 1st. This high-speed Internet service can be purchased starting at $34.95 per month. An installation fee of $249.00 includes a 24 to 28 inches satellite antenna, a satellite modem A device used to transmit and receive signals from a satellite transponder.
