John Geary, Vice President and General Manager of Atlantis Plastics' Molded Products Group stated, "Rio provides the logistics, capacity and experienced work force necessary to support the Mexican operations of our key appliance customers, while continuing to grow Rio's current business in the automotive sector."

Anthony Bova, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Rio has been a successful injection molder for many years and we expect the acquisition to increase the sales of our Molded Products Group by up to $15 million in 2003. The Rio facility will be an excellent platform to facilitate the growth of our Molded Products Group, through the support of the Mexican appliance market segment. As well, the acquisition provides our Molded Products Group with excellent growth opportunities in the automotive sector."

Atlantis Plastics, Inc. is a leading U.S. manufacturer of polyethylene polyethylene (pŏl'ēĕth`əlēn), widely used plastic. It is a polymer of ethylene, CH2=CH2, having the formula (-CH2-CH2-)n  stretch and custom films and molded plastic products. Stretch films are used to wrap pallets of materials for shipping or storage, and custom films, which are made-to-order specialty film products, are used in the industrial and packaging markets. Atlantis' molded plastic products are used primarily in the appliance, automotive, agricultural, building supply, and recreational vehicle industries.
