Atlantis Plastics Acquires Rio Grande Plastics.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2002

Atlantis Plastics, Inc. (AMEX:AGH) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of certain assets of Rio Grande Plastic Products, Inc. ("Rio"), a custom injection molder located in Alamo, TX and primarily serving the automotive sector. The operation will become part of Atlantis Plastics' Molded Products Group, giving the Group a total of eight manufacturing facilities in North America.

John Geary, Vice President and General Manager of Atlantis Plastics' Molded Products Group stated, "Rio provides the logistics, capacity and experienced work force necessary to support the Mexican operations of our key appliance customers, while continuing to grow Rio's current business in the automotive sector."

Anthony Bova, President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Rio has been a successful injection molder for many years and we expect the acquisition to increase the sales of our Molded Products Group by up to $15 million in 2003. The Rio facility will be an excellent platform to facilitate the growth of our Molded Products Group, through the support of the Mexican appliance market segment. As well, the acquisition provides our Molded Products Group with excellent growth opportunities in the automotive sector."
