games. The announcement was made by newly appointed Atlantic President Val Azzoli. Under the terms of the agreement, REV will create, develop, and produce interactive multimedia titles and CD+ releases featuring the label's artists.

Val Azzoli commented: "This deal places Atlantic on the front lines of emerging entertainment technology. Not only does our alliance with REV bring us fully into the mixed-format CD arena, but it also gives our artists an array of potential new venues for their creative output, including games and other interactive multimedia."

The first releases under this new agreement are slated to be configured in a new format, widely dubbed CD+; these discs can be played on both conventional audio CD players and CD-ROM components attached to computers. As a CD-ROM playable in both Macintosh and Windows formats, each disc will feature a wide range of music, information, and interactive video programming. Capabilities for REV's CD+ format include: full-screen/full-motion artist videos; access to song titles and lyrics, with users able to navigate through recordings by clicking on portions of the song's lyrics; and artist biographies and mini-documentaries. REV will work closely with Atlantic's artists to tailor each CD+ release to the performer's distinct aesthetic.

Future releases under this deal will feature interactive entertainment drawing on video and audio content from Atlantic's rich archive of contemporary music. Slated for the late-'95 release are two interactive game titles: "Rap Basketball," a street basketball game utilizing tracks from a variety of hip-hop artists; and an as-yet-untitled game combining hard-edged rock `n' roll and comic book comic book
