Atlantic and Blackground make a worldwide deal; First release due in August from Aaliyah.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1996--Atlantic Records has entered into a long-term worldwide pact with Blackground Enterprises, it was announced today by Atlantic Senior Vice President Craig Kallman Craig Kallman (born 1966) is Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records. He joined the company in 1991, when Atlantic acquired Kallman's independent Big Beat Records label. He advanced from Vice President to Executive Vice President in charge of Atlantic's entire A&R operation.  and Blackground CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. He is the founder of Blackground Records, a label he created in the early 1990s and continues to run with his son, Jomo Hankerson. Career

The first artist to be released under this new agreement will be seventeen-year-old singer Aaliyah, whose new album is slated for an August release.
