Atlantic Gold Follow-up Work on Key Kalimantan Property in Indonesia.

VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1996-- Atlanta Gold Corp.(TSE: AAG.) Atlanta Gold Corporation, together with its Joint Venture Partner, Voisey Bay Resources Inc., is pleased to announce that a team of field workers headed by their consulting geologist in Indonesia is scheduled next week to start work on one of the key properties recently acquired by the joint venture, as part of the package of nine geologically favourable properties on the Island of Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The 4,000 ha. property referred to as the Hapsari Indah-Kutai is located in a highly prospective region in the Northeast of Kalimantan and is believed to be traversed by a major regional fault. Extensive geological mapping previously done by Dutch geologists and follow-up sampling revealed extensive areas of mineralization with high-grade gold assays in at least one area. The Companies' geologist has reviewed the available reports on the property and concluded that the results reported in several areas of the mineralized zones indicate potential drill targets. Drill availability has been sourced and tentatively booked to begin a drilling programme on the conclusion of the Companies verifying the data obtained from the Indonesian Ministry of Mines.

Atlanta and Voisey Bay have also commissioned SAR images covering the eight other properties acquired on Kalimantan. SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) is a recently developed advanced satellite imagery technique that is proving to be a valuable aid in identifying eroded Calderas, structures with which many of the world's large scale open pit gold mines are associated. Geological interpretation of images on the properties is to be followed by aeromagnetic surveys where warranted. Where appropriate, ground crews will commence geological mapping and sampling.

Atlanta has joined with Voisey Bay to acquire extensive holdings of mineral properties in Indonesia considered to be of superior geological merit. The goal of Atlanta is to move aggressively to develop world class mines in South East Asia with emphasis on Indonesia, one of the world's great remaining frontier mining regions.

The issuance of any securities in connection with the property acquisition and private placement announced in Atlanta's Press Release of August 23, 1996 is subject to shareholders approval. Accordingly, Atlanta has scheduled an extraordinary meeting of its members to be held November 14, 1996 in this regard. -0-
