 Electric & Gas Co. to operate SCE&G's Columbia, SC public transit system. Under terms of the contract, beginning August 19, 2000, Atlantic Express will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Columbia Area's fixed route bus service consisting of 32 routes.

The contract is for a one-year period, with options to extend for two one-year terms. SCE&G plans to transfer operation of the system to a public entity by February 2002.
